How to Become an Out of Town Patient at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa

We’re so happy you’re considering Dr. Jaime Perez and the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa as your destination for some of the world’s best plastic surgery.  You can rest assured that you are in the finest of hands.  Now relax and let us do the rest of the work for you!

Step One: Submit Your Information and Photos

Prior to scheduling your consultation with Dr. Perez, you will need to complete the Out of Town Patient Brief Questionnaire and submit your photographs.  Please refer to Dr. Perez’s Guidelines for Plastic Surgery Patient Photographs for instructions on how to take the required photographs.

Step Two: Schedule a Consultation

In-Person Consultation-  When possible, we love to see our out of town patients in person at the initial consultation.  If you are interested in visiting Tampa, Florida and meeting Dr. Perez in person for your initial consultation, simply contact us through the website or call the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa at (813) 877-3739 to schedule a complimentary consultation.  We will do our absolute best to accommodate you and your schedule!  In this case, you are not required to submit preoperative photographs.

Virtual Consultation-  If it is not possible for you to travel to Tampa for your initial consultation with Dr. Jaime Perez, as is often the case with our out of town patients, we will be happy to arrange a virtual consultation.  Depending on your desires and needs, your virtual consultation may be able to be handled through email alone, a phone conversation with Dr. Jaime Perez, or via Skype.

After we have received your completed questionnaire and photographs, Dr. Perez will carefully review your information and make sure you are an appropriate surgical candidate.  You will then be contacted by one of our specialized out-of-town cosmetic patient coordinators to arrange the type of consultation that best fits your needs at a time that is mutually convenient to both you and Dr. Jaime Perez.  During your consultation Dr. Perez will listen carefully to what you are interested in, your goals, and your desires.  He will make recommendations based on your anatomy and lifestyle, and you will have a chance to ask all of your questions.

After your consultation, your patient coordinator will give you a price quote for your desired procedures and discuss payment and financing options.

Step Three: Schedule Your Surgery Date

Once you have had a consultation with Dr. Perez and are ready to proceed with surgery, simply contact your patient coordinator via email or telephone to reserve your desired date.  At this time, your patient coordinator will also schedule your preoperative appointment with Dr. Perez at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa.  Preoperative appointments for our out of town patients are generally scheduled one to two days prior to the day of surgery.

Please be advised that Dr. Perez’s surgical schedule is very busy and he is usually booked two to three months in advance.  However, due to cancellations, and depending on the complexity and length of your desired procedure, it may be possible to schedule your surgery sooner. A $1,500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your selected surgery date; this can be paid over the phone with a credit card or via certified check sent through the mail.  The remaining balance is due at least two weeks prior to surgery.

After securing your surgery date, your patient coordinator will send you a personalized preoperative surgery packet.  This packet will contain additional information on your scheduled procedures, pre- and postoperative patient instructions, surgical consents, and prescriptions for preoperative laboratory studies and/or testing as recommended by Dr. Perez.  All preoperative studies and testing must be performed within 30 days of surgery.  You will review this information, paperwork, and all preoperative testing with Dr. Jaime Perez at your preoperative appointment as well.

Planning for Your Surgery as an Out of Town Patient at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa

Like any big decision, planning for you destination plastic surgery at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa in Florida may seem overwhelming.  But don’t worry!  We do this all the time and will be with you every step of the way!  Though every patient and surgery is different, here are some general guidelines for planning your stay in Tampa, Florida.

When Should I Arrive in Tampa, Florida for Plastic Surgery?

Depending on your surgery, we recommend that most patients arrive in Tampa, Florida one to two days prior to their scheduled cosmetic procedure.  This gives Dr. Jaime Perez and the staff at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa time to perform a thorough examination and history during your preoperative appointment, review the surgical consents, as well as finalize any paperwork, laboratory studies, or imaging studies if necessary.

How Many Days Do I Need to Stay in Tampa After Surgery?

Dr. Jaime Perez is vigilant about his patients’ safety and outcome, and examines all his patients the day after surgery.  This ensures you are healing appropriately, tolerating your medications, and able to eat and drink appropriately.  Depending on the procedures performed, you will need to stay in Tampa at least three to ten days following surgery. Most all procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, meaning no overnight hospital or surgery center stay is required- you will be able to recover in the comfort of your hotel or accommodations of your choosing from day one!  Below is a rough estimate for necessary length of stay in Tampa following surgery at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa, but please keep in mind that every patient recovers differently.

When Will I See Dr. Perez After Surgery?

You will see Dr. Perez at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa the day after surgery for your first postoperative appointment. You will then follow-up with Dr. Perez multiple times during your recovery in Tampa. If possible, we also like to see our out of town patients six weeks following surgery, but we understand this is not possible for many patients, particularly those traveling from out of the country. In that case, we have very good success managing your long-term recovery through photographs, emails, and telephone calls. Of course, if you ever return to Tampa for business or pleasure, we request you schedule a follow-up appointment with us at that time.

General Guidelines:

If at all possible, please have someone take your preoperative photos for you.  Do not wear clothing or accessories (including glasses, jewelry, or a bra or underwear) over the area of your body in question.  Secure long hair in a ponytail or bun so it is not seen in the photographs.  Try to take the preoperative photos against an uncluttered, solid, and medium to dark background.

For lateral and oblique views, move your feet and turn your entire body, do not simply rotate the area of the body in question.  In general, please submit at least five photos including a front view, right lateral, right oblique, left lateral, and left oblique view.  When surgery is being performed on the trunk or legs (i.e. a Brazilian butt liftmommy makeovertummy tuckliposuction of the legs, leg lift, etc…) please also submit a posterior, or back, view.

Front View – feet directly facing the camera for a direct, forward-facing photo

Lateral (Side) View – feet perpendicular to the line of view of the camera

Oblique (3/4) View – feet positioned approximately 45 degrees away from the camera

Posterior (Back) View – feet positioned 180 degrees away from the camera

Basal View – head tilted all the way up, looking directly at the ceiling
